Recent Voyages

Through the generous support of the Geoffrey Evans Trust, five young people have had the unique opportunity to join five different voyages on the Sail Training Ship Leeuwin II. There were three male and two female participants.

Students in years 10 to 12 may earn one unit towards their Western Australian Certificate of Education through successful participation in a Leeuwin Ocean Adventure voyage. This direct link to formal education outcomes, as an endorsed program, sets Leeuwin Ocean Adventure apart from all other sail training vessels and programs in Australia.

Through the Western Australian “Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation”, the Geoffrey Evans Trust has funded several scholarships for students to participate in voyages on Leeuwin II.

The support encourages youth to take up the challenges faced at sea and to push themselves out of their comfort zone.

Financial support allowed Issac from Albany, W.A. to participate in Sail Leeuwin.

In his acknowledgement letter Issac said:

‘This sponsorship that you have given me has been the best thing that has happened to me for a long time.’

‘One of the most challenging parts would have been climbing 33m up.’
