Young Endeavour Youth Scheme (YEYS)

2020 update: YEYS and Baniyala Community

In partnership with the YEYS and the Indigenous Community Benevolent Fund, The Geoffrey Evans Trust has been able to sponsor two indigenous youths, Brendan Marika and Wathun Kurru Wirrpanda from Baniyala Community in Arnhemland on a voyage on STS Young Endeavour. The funding allowed for travel and participation costs. As well as the benefit to the participants in their life skills, this project indirectly benefits the other members of the voyage and back home, the members of their own indigenous community. It is hoped that pathways are opened up towards new interests and opportunities in the maritime domain.

YEYS is run in partnership with the Royal Australian Navy. The scheme provides young Australians with a unique, challenging and inspirational voyage at sea on board the sail training ship, STS Young Endeavour.

The Geoffrey Evans Trust has sponsored several participants to join voyages to date, enabling this life time experience.
