The Trusteesโ€™ visit to Launceston 2019

Serving Australiaโ€™s island state of Tasmania, The University of Tasmania is the fourth oldest university in Australia, established in 1890. Ranked in the top 2 per cent of universities globally and among the top 10 Australian research universities, the University of Tasmania has a long-standing reputation for excellence in learning, teaching and research. The Australian Maritime College (AMC) is Australiaโ€™s national institute for maritime and maritime-related education, training and research.

In 2019, the Geoffrey Evans Trustโ€™s generous philanthropic support has provided for The Geoffrey Evans High Achiever Scholarship in Maritime Studies and this has been awarded to Mr Alexander Seen, enrolled at the AMC in his second year of an undergraduate degree in maritime engineering. The scholarship recognises academic merit and the potential to succeed. It will provide funds to the recipient for each year for the duration of his degree.

The University of Tasmania is incredibly grateful for this support and recognition by the Trust of the importance of supporting young people, raising awareness and encouraging an interest in the maritime environment.
